Black Photographer In St. Louis

Mena Darré is a middle school teacher turned photographer. Mena fell in love with photography as a young kid watching her grandpa and grandma put together scrapbooks of their tropical vacations. Mena grew up thinking that photography would just lead to being a starving artist so she pursued other passions. Mena received her Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and her Masters in Teaching at Lindenwood University. In 2017 Mena decided to take a leap of faith and decided to pursue photography full time. However, when Mena is not behind the camera you can find her in the class with the kiddos teaching entrepreneurship and photography through her organization The Creatives Of Tomorrow.

In my experience as a black photographer, I've realized that support goes beyond mere desire - it's about capturing the real essence of individuals. I've come across a prevalent issue: non-photographers of color often struggle with properly lighting darker skin tones, sometimes resulting in unflattering images. That's where I come in. As a black photographer I have mastered the art of illuminating black skin, I can showcase people's true and authentic beauty. Are you ready to work with a black photographer who has the experience working with an array of shades of blacks and browns? Book today.
