Maternity Photoshoot Ideas | Nissa & Ramon

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage *insert child like giggles.*  Nissa and Ramon first started dating in high school and tied the knot on August 4, 2018 at the Piper Palmer House. Fast forward four years later they are now expecting a baby boy.  Talk about the perfect love story; high school sweet hearts now married and building their own family.

Well not quite!  Life has a way of throwing curve balls when we least expect it.  When Nissa first found out she was carrying a baby she soon found out she was also carrying something else, uterine fibroids. Based on the MayoClinic uterine fibroids are noncancerous growths that form in the uterus.  Some uterine fibroids only grow to the size of an apple seed while others can grow to the size of a watermelon.  Research shows that about 40-80% of women develop fibroids.  Some women are asymptomatic while others may experience heavy menstrual periods, pain in the pelvis, an enlarged uterus, and even UTI’s.

In the early stages of Nissa’s pregnancy she was in so much pain she wasn’t sure if she was going to be able to carry the baby full term.  Pregnancy is already a challenge so to add the stress of uterine fibroids just caused an extra layer of concern. Thankfully at the end of the second trimester, Nissa’s uterine fibroid pain drastically decreased and she was able to move forward with the pregnancy.  Let me just say, “Women are real life super heroes.”

We captured Nissa’s maternity session when she was about 25 weeks pregnant.  Nissa decided on 3 looks.  The classic matching Calvin Klein underwear set, a silver piece of fabric for a more dramatic look, and a traditional maternity gown in powder blue.  Nissa looked absolutely stunning for her maternity photoshoot.  Her makeup was perfectly beat by the Nia Suzette and Nissa’s baby sister, Brandi styled her hair which was absolutely perfect for the crystal head band

When Nissa arrived she was in good spirits and appeared to be excited.  Her sister was there to assist along with her 1 year old nephew who brought all of us joy with his giggles.  Nissa’s photo shoot lasted about 90 minutes.  We took a small break for Nissa to snack and drink water but over all she did great and her photos turned out beautiful.

Maternity photo shoots are primarily all about the moms;  but I want to make sure I give credit to the father, Ramon. He was in good spirits and he fully participated without any hesitation.  From my experience as a photographer it’s not many men who are thrilled about photoshoots; however, Ramon put his best foot forward and it was joyful to witness.  I have no doubts that he won’t do the same for his wife and son.

Cheers to this beautiful couple and their new bundle of joy.
